# Long-term care

Long-term care is help with daily activities at home, in assisted living, in memory care, or in a nursing facility. Medicare and individual health plans generally do not pay for that ongoing custodial care.

Nye Insurance collects a short intake and, only with authorization, shares it with a trusted long-term care specialist. The form asks who needs coverage, dates of birth, what prompted the request, one yes-or-no health question (no medical details), savings and budget ranges, existing long-term care coverage, and whether the person also wants help with health insurance.

Many traditional policies are issued from about age 40 to 79. Washington has a state program, WA Cares, that is separate from a private policy. Oregon does not have an equivalent state program.
