LoriNye.com is now Nye Insurance — same trusted broker, just a new name.
We help individuals, families, and small businesses in Oregon and Washington find affordable coverage that fits their needs and budget, from ACA marketplace plans to private insurance options.
This is the most important question in individual health insurance. Timing determines whether you can get covered at all. Here's what you need to know before we talk.
The one guaranteed window each year when anyone can enroll in or change a marketplace plan, with no qualifying event required. For 2027 coverage, Oregon (Explore Health) and Washington (Healthplanfinder) both run November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027. The last day for January 1 coverage is December 15 in Oregon and December 31 in Washington.
Outside of Open Enrollment, certain life changes open a Special Enrollment Period. HealthCare.gov generally gives you 60 days (and you can often apply up to 60 days before expected loss of coverage). Loss of Medicaid or CHIP may allow 90 days. Miss the window, and you'll typically wait for the next Open Enrollment period.
Not sure which window applies to you, or worried you're almost out of time?
The 60-day Special Enrollment clock starts the moment your qualifying event happens, not when you get around to dealing with it. The sooner we talk, the more options you'll have.
We'll help you understand your options and find the right plan for your situation.
Plans available through the Health Insurance Marketplace with potential subsidies to lower costs.
Private plans that may offer different benefits or pricing structures than marketplace plans.
Oregon and Washington both cap short-term plans at 3 months with no renewals, so they only make sense for a brief gap, not as a long-term solution. Availability changes, so we'll confirm what's actually on the market before recommending one.
ACA marketplace plans are organized into metal tiers based on how much they pay for covered services.
Lower monthly premiums, higher deductibles. Good for healthy individuals who want protection against major medical expenses.
Moderate premiums and deductibles. Most popular choice. Eligible for cost-sharing reductions if you qualify.
Higher premiums, lower deductibles. Good if you use medical services regularly or take expensive medications.
Many people qualify for financial help to lower their health insurance costs. We'll help you understand what savings you may be eligible for.
Lower your monthly premium costs if your household income is between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level.
Lower your deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance with Silver plans if your income is between 100% and 250% of the federal poverty level.
Oregon expanded Medicaid, so you may qualify for free or low-cost coverage if your income is up to 138% of the federal poverty level.
